What is Media Network (MEDIA)?
Media Network is a new protocol which bypasses the centralized approach of classic CDN (content delivery network) suppliers for an open source, self-governing, and reachable solution. A distributed economy which enables anyone with spare bandwidth tools to market them, making MEDIA tokens in exchange for their contributions to the network.
Any present infrastructure can now be scaled up by leasing bandwidth on demand without restricting long-term company commitments or compromising privacy. No account, KYC or personal information is necessary at any point in time for any of those network participants.
Active variables in the Media Network
Content Publisher/Media Platform: Service providers staking LP MEDIA tokens and using Media Network to expand current infrastructure.
Media Edge: they have to deposit LP MEDIA tokens to participate in the network. They make MEDIA in exchange for their services and may be cut off if bad behaviour is detected, such as incorrect forwarding of information to end users. These participants are anonymous, geographically dispersed nodes running Media Edge software.
Media Guard: Need to staking LP MEDIA token to become a Guard. Media Guard earns MEDIA in exchange for their services to the network. These participants are anonymous, geographically distributed supernodes running Media Guard software. They have the use of network security and authentication
End users: Any client application that flows or retrieves content in the network with a web browser automatically shares data in real time with different partners requesting the exact same content, reducing the load considerably and assist the network scale . If connected to a Solana compatible wallet, end users staking LP MEDIA tokens will be eligible for rewards, based on the number of data shared.
How does Media Network work?
Media Network creates a distributed bandwidth marketplace which enables service providers such as media platforms to rent resources from the network. It allows everyone to establish new Media Edges and serve content without making any assumptions of confidence or requiring prior authentication. These participants make MEDIA token rewards for their bandwidth donations.
The protocol utilizes new mechanisms to promote honest work and collaboration among network participants.
To scale the present infrastructure, programmers or media platforms will need to buy MEDIA from exchanges, provide liquidity to some designated DEX Serum pool, and bet the LPs. MEDIA tokens obtained. They will then need to authenticate with a Solana compatible wallet with whatever UI can be obtained (e.g. Media App) and set up their custom settings and tools.
Once the trades are verified, Media Guards will check the total amount of staked LP MEDIA tokens and authorize new tools to the network specifying bandwidth quota, DNS name and security settings once the conditions are satisfied. Everything is encrypted using a password and listed on Solana’s blockchain.
The data transfer fee is automatically deducted from the staked assets in the network, based on the current intake and fees of this community. Bandwidth quota is dependent upon the amount of LP tokens staked; The longer MEDIA bets, the more bandwidth is available to the end users of a specific resource. As data intake is reduced, so is the available bandwidth for that specific resource.
The Media Edges listening to these on-chain trades will then start pulling content from the source and replicating it globally, forwarding the information as required. End users asking a new provided URL rather than the original route to the origin will get data from the closest Media Edge based on geolocation and latency.
Now anybody can scale applications or sites that rely on multimedia and accommodate millions of concurrent requests without needing to be an engineer or worry about compromise. Privacy at any particular time.
