- HIVE targets 25 EH/s Bitcoin mining without debt in Paraguay.
- Expansion leveraged 300MW from the Itaipu Dam’s hydro power.
- Sustainable growth impacts community renewable projects.

HIVE Digital Technologies, led by CEO Aydin Kilic, is significantly expanding its Bitcoin mining operations in Paraguay, aiming for 25 EH/s by 2025, fueled by hydroelectric power.
HIVE Digital Technologies is advancing in Bitcoin mining through its operation in Paraguay. Their goal is reaching 25 EH/s utilizing hydro power by Fall 2025. This venture is significantly treasury funded, avoiding external debt strategies. HIVE’s growth was being fueled by disciplined treasury management and no debt. “The leap from 6.5 to 11.5 EH/s had already been paid for,” said Kilic.
The expansion is led by CEO Aydin Kilic, joined by Gabriel Lamas and project manager Carlos Anibal Torres. The plan utilizes Paraguay’s Itaipu Dam, offering a 300-megawatt hydro-powered capacity.
The operation strengthens HIVE’s position by harnessing renewable energy, expected to deliver 12 Bitcoin daily by 2025. Share prices rose post-100MW site completion. HIVE’s commitment to sustainability includes energy provision to 18 schools. In the province of Cordillera, where their 100 megawatt site is located, there are 18 schools that need electricity. They’ve so far completed four of these and will be rolling more throughout 2025 and the following years – an initiative Kilic describes as part of their sustainable model.
This expansion underscores the economic and strategic implications for Bitcoin mining in the region, potentially influencing global hash rate dynamics. Contributing to local social infrastructure reflects the company’s ethical investment model.
HIVE’s approach aligns with historical trends of relocating mining power to cost-effective regions. As past halvings showed, such positioning ensures competitiveness in the evolving crypto market landscape.
Insights suggest HIVE’s strategy reflects a broader industry move toward environmentally-conscious mining solutions. Historical trends denote post-halving periods often culminate in bull markets, enhancing the impact of such expansions.
