James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, shared his outlook for Bitcoin’s price trajectory in 2025. He predicted potential peaks up to $150,000 and a correction down to $80,000.
Butterfill is one of many crypto leaders who expect BTC to surpass the $150,000 mark this year, despite the current liquidations.
Most Bitcoin price predictions are optimistic for 2025
Talk to CNBCButterfill explains that while these numbers are feasible for next year, reaching $250,000, equivalent to a 25% market share for gold, is a longer-term expectation.
Currently, Bitcoin accounts for about 10% of the value of the gold market. CoinShares leadership emphasized that these milestones will take time to achieve.
“Exact timing is challenging, and I don’t expect a $250,000 valuation by 2025. However, Bitcoin is likely to move in that direction over time,” Butterfill said.
He suggests that both $80,000 and $150,000 are achievable in 2025. A price as low as $80,000 is associated with potential setbacks if pro-crypto policies, such as those proposed by the General US President Donald Trump proposed, but was not implemented.
The supportive regulatory environment in the United States remains the main factor driving Bitcoin prices, according to the majority of experts.
Other companies predict higher BTC valuations
CoinShares is not the only company making optimistic predictions for Bitcoin. Bitwise Asset Management expects Bitcoin to reach $200,000 by the end of 2025. This will significantly benefit companies that own large amounts of cryptocurrency, like MicroStrategy.
Meanwhile, VanEck has made a long-term prediction that Bitcoin could skyrocket to $3 million by 2050. This could be driven by the asset’s potential to become a reserve asset.
The company’s analysis points to Bitcoin’s negative correlation with the USD and positive correlation with M2 money supply growth as factors supporting its optimistic stance.
Furthermore, institutional investors continue to favor Bitcoin. Analysts at BlackRock have suggested allocating 1% to 2% of traditional investment portfolios to BTC. This reflects a significant shift in large-scale cryptocurrency adoption.
Additionally, countries such as Russia, Japan, the United States, and Switzerland have put forward proposals to establish national Bitcoin reserves, adding to confidence in its future.
Pantera Capital, famous for high returns from its Bitcoin Fund, predicts BTC could reach $117,000 by 2025 and possibly as much as $740,000 by 2028. These predictions highlight growing confidence in the possibility of Bitcoin offers significant returns in the coming years.
