Bithumb Set for Corporate Restructure Completion in July 2025

Bithumb, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, announced the completion of its corporate restructuring on July 31, 2025, aiming to separate its exchange and non-exchange operations. The move is designed to enhance transparency and prepare for a potential IPO.

The restructuring underscores Bithumb’s strategic focus on isolating its exchange business from other ventures, ensuring greater transparency and operational clarity for a forthcoming IPO.

Bithumb, a major player in South Korea, plans to split into two entities: Bithumb Korea for its core cryptocurrency exchange operations and Bithumb A for venture capital and asset management. This separation highlights their focused growth strategy.

Im Tae-seong is appointed to lead Bithumb Partners, reflecting a focus on professional investment management. He remarked, “Our focus on professionalizing investment management reflects the need for a stronger approach to managing Bithumb’s diversified interests,” – CoinDesk. This restructure, officially filed with South Korea’s DART platform, aims to mitigate risk by isolating non-exchange businesses from the exchange core.

The immediate market effects from Bithumb’s restructuring announcement were minimal, with XRP experiencing a slight 2% decline against KRW. This restructuring aims to improve investor confidence by clearly delineating Bithumb’s financial streams.

Financially, Bithumb recorded a net profit of $110 million in 2024, reflecting a 560% increase year-over-year. This significant growth positions the company favorably for an IPO, potentially stimulating further market activity in the crypto sector.

Market analysts suggest the restructuring could spark interest in Bithumb’s planned IPO. Historical parallels, such as recent stock offerings by other crypto firms, show that Bithumb’s approach may lead to increased transparency and regulatory compliance, appealing to investors. A Bithumb Executive stated, “The spin-off aims to clarify revenue streams and ring-fence the exchange business from other operational risks.” – Mitrade.
