Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek has called for regulatory scrutiny of exchanges following heavy liquidations exceeding $20 billion due to the recent market crash. This event was triggered by new US tariffs on China.

Marszalek emphasized the need for a probe into exchanges experiencing the largest liquidations within 24 hours. His inquiry focuses on possible manipulation and lack of compliance during this turbulent period. “Did exchanges fail to maintain proper anti-manipulation and compliance controls during the event?”

The market saw dramatic declines across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and leading altcoins, affecting over 1.6 million traders. Key exchanges like Hyperliquid and Bybit experienced significant liquidations, raising concerns about order execution and pricing accuracy.

Binance addressed depeg instances involving specific assets, resulting in necessary liquidations. The exchange is reviewing user accounts for compensation, spotlighting the issue of trading fairness and operational integrity.

Exchanges’ practices are under scrutiny as they face potential investigations. This comes amid worries about transparency of operations during crises.

If investigated, exchanges might confront repercussions from regulatory bodies, impacting their operating procedures. Historical data from prior crashes serve as precedent, highlighting the critical nature of maintaining robust trading protocols.
