Sonnet Merges for $888M Hyperliquid Strategy
Paradigm steps into Hyperliquid’s $888M treasury strategy with a biotech merger backed by Sonnet BioTherapeutics.

- Merging entities focus on Hyperliquid’s $888M strategy.
- Paradigm leads crypto-backed investments.
- Nasdaq listing provides unique market access.

Partnership highlights ongoing crypto integration into mainstream markets, encouraging interest and liquidity.
The biotech firm Sonnet BioTherapeutics merges with Rorschach I LLC, supported by major crypto firms like Paradigm, to form Hyperliquid Strategies Inc., focusing on a $888M treasury strategy. Eric Rosengren, formerly of the Boston Fed, joins the board, enhancing regulatory alignment. Bob Diamond becomes Chairman, while David Schamis takes over as CEO, reflecting a strategic movement toward expansive financial goals.
HSI’s strategy includes holding 12.6 million HYPE tokens valued at $583 million. The merger creates new Nasdaq-traded entities, allowing traditional market investors to gain crypto exposure indirectly. This move is akin to MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin strategy but targets a more regulated and innovative asset, aiming to boost HYPE’s visibility.
Matt Huang, Co-founder, Paradigm, commented, “Hyperliquid has broken out as a crypto project with real fundamentals: strong core contributors, exacting product quality, and meteoric growth. We hear lots of institutional demand for exposure to Hyperliquid, yet the native token HYPE is difficult to access in the United States. We are excited about this treasury strategy, which we believe will contribute to the Hyperliquid ecosystem in many ways over time.”
Immediate effects include increased liquidity and TVL for Hyperliquid. Institutional interest is stimulated, potentially driving new price discovery mechanisms. The initiative bypasses direct token buying restrictions, making crypto more accessible through equities. A regulatory-compliant market approach draws parallels to traditional financial movements, suggesting a pivotal shift in crypto investment strategies.
The strategy indicates a notable trend in crypto inclusion within public markets. Leveraging entities like Nasdaq helps institutions engage with regulated assets. Historical precedents, especially MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin strategy, show potential for significant value growth in the crypto sphere. As traditional finance converges with innovative assets, experts suggest a potential reshaping of future market dynamics.
