More than 768,000 USD Bitcoin was stolen from consumers who downloaded the fake Ledger Live app from the Microsoft App Store. Detective on Chain ZachXBT found the scam on November 5th.

Community Alert: There is at the moment a fake @Ledger Live app on the official @Microsoft App Store which resulted in the theft of above sixteen.eight BTC ($588,000).

Initially, the hacker stole sixteen.eight BTC, really worth $588,000, across 38 transactions. Tpig Blockchain.com, the hacker’s wallet tackle is recognized as “bc1q….y64q”. Subsequently, he transferred $115,200 from his wallet, leaving $473,800, somewhere around 13.five Bitcoins.

The attacker then continued to steal USD 180,000 from a different wallet, bringing the complete reduction to USD 768,000.

In the subsequent report, ZachXBT announced that Microsoft had eliminated the fake application from the platform.
