Several Cryptocurrency projects achieving significant growth in 2024 are expected to conduct Token Generation (TGE) events in Q1 2025.
Platforms like Monad and Pump.fun have attracted significant investment throughout the year, thanks to increased engagement and key developments. These projects are likely to launch their own Tokens in the first quarter.
Upcoming TGEs Drive Competition in the Cryptocurrency Market
Blockchain analyst Colin Wu announced list of potential TGE projects on social networks, although there are not many comments to explain his team’s reasons. Previously, the expert predicted the launch of HyperLiquid’s HYPE Token in late 2024. The Q1 2025 list includes both returning projects and new names.
For example, Wu predicted in July that Monad would carry out TGE in 2024, and is now considered a likely candidate. Monad had great success in raising capital last summer, and TGE could help the company raise more capital in 2025. However, he no longer lists Monad as the most likely project, but that position is reserved for Pump.fun.
Pump.fun, a meme coin platform based on Solana, has experienced major market volatility recently. When it first surpassed $100 million in revenue, it attracted criticism from the community.
The platform’s unique characteristics, such as live streaming, were subsequently abused by traders to promote harmful content. Reports also suggest that most users trading Pump.fun Tokens are losing money. These allegations have also led to increased scrutiny from regulators, especially in the UK.
Wu and his team have their eyes on a number of other successful capital raises that could make TGE possible. Story Protocol is one of the projects that received the largest investment in the Cryptocurrency industry from VC funds in August but still does not have a Token.
Similarly, Polymarket hinted at a Token launch following the company’s big pre-election trading boom, but nothing has happened since.
This study includes another important data: the amount and source of investment capital ahead of a possible Token launch. A few names have invested in multiple candidates, such as Polychain, which backed several large Airdrops in December. This could be a strong sign of a TGE and/or airdrop in the near future.
