Token Unlocking is the issuance of Tokens previously restricted under fundraising agreements. Projects strategically plan these issuances to reduce market pressure and maintain Token prices.
Watch for three important Token unlock events happening over the next week.
Aptos (APT)
- Unlock date: December 11
- Number of Tokens unlocked: 11.31 million APT
- Current circulating supply: 535.76 million APT
Aptos operates as a Layer-1 blockchain built to provide a secure and scalable platform for decentralized application. Prioritizing security and performance, it leverages cutting-edge technologies to improve the blockchain experience. Although widely considered a successful blockchain project, Aptos has been criticized for its venture capital-dominated tokenomics. Currently, a large portion of APT Tokens remain locked. On December 11, the project will release 11.31 million APT Tokens to community members, core contributors, and investors.
Starknet (STRK)
- Unlock date: December 15
- Number of Tokens unlocked: 64 million STRK
- Current circulating supply: 2.25 billion STRK
Starknet is building a ZK-Rollup Layer-2 solution to improve decentralized application scalability on Ethereum. After completing a successful funding round, the team issued the STRK Token, a key element in decentralizing the network.
On December 15, the project will unlock 64 million STRK Tokens, distributed to investors and early contributors.
Sei (SEI)
- Unlock date: December 15
- Number of Tokens Unlocked: 55.56 million SEI
- Current circulating supply: 3.98 billion SEI
SEI is a blockchain platform built to provide high-performance infrastructure for DeFi (DeFi) and other decentralized applications (dApps). Developed on the Cosmos SDK platform, SEI operates as a Layer-1 blockchain, emphasizing speed, scalability, and user-facing features.
December 15, the project plans to release more than 55 million SEI Tokens allocated to members of the team.
Next week’s token cliff unlock event will also include Cardano (ADA), Ethena (ENA), and Axie Infinity (AXS), with a total value exceeding $740 million.
