As reported by Coinlive, the Interior Minister of Montenegro confirmed on the evening of March 23 that he arrested Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs – the developer of two cryptocurrencies, LUNA and UST, which collapsed in May 2022, at the finish of $60 billions of capitalization from the cryptocurrency industry.

Do Kwon is explained to have utilised false paperwork at a Montenegrin airport and was detained by customs, later on identified on Interpol’s most needed checklist.

A Korean police representative later on explained that the identification paperwork confiscated from Do Kwon verified the identity of the CEO of Terraform Labs.

On the morning of March 24 (Vietnam time), US Department of Justice prosecutors initiated a criminal indictment towards Do Kwon, such as two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud, two counts of securities fraud, two counts of counts of remittance fraud, asset fraud and industry manipulation involving LUNA and UST.

This was unveiled by a spokesman for the US Department of Justice CoinDesk that the US government needs to extradite Do Kwon to the US.

The indictment claims that Do Kwon has repeatedly created false and misleading statements about the cryptocurrencies he developed.

“Kwon colluded with others to trick investors into buying Terraform Labs-issued cryptocurrencies by lying about algorithm efficiency that was promised to maintain stable value for UST through misrepresentation and market manipulation.”

The indictment also alleges that Do Kwon utilised the aid of an American investment fund to influence the rate of UST. This investment fund is viewed as by lots of observers in the cryptocurrency business as Jump Crypto.

In February, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also filed a civil suit towards Do Kwon, allegedly conducting a multibillion-dollar fraud scheme and providing to promote unregistered securities referred to as LUNA and UST.
